Temp Financial Aid Counselor

 

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford is seeking a knowledgeable Financial Aid Counselor. This is a full-time, 8-month assignment where you will make a meaningful difference by helping our students receive the aid that they need to excel! The ideal candidate will not only be a well-polished team player, but also a friendly and compassionate ally to our students.

 

Compensation: $19/h

 

Duties: Provide information to students and families about financial aid eligibility and availability. Participate in recruiting events on and off campus, such as conducting presentations and training on

financial aid and financial literacy at high schools, orientations, freshmen seminars, etc. Assist financial aid office in its daily operations: answering phone calls and emails, posting and updating aid, working with a variety of agencies and systems to determine eligibility for various programs, and reconciling accounts, among other things.

Requirements: A bachelor's degree is required along with strong verbal and written communication skills, math skills, presentation skills, and tech-savviness. Extra attention will be paid to applicants that can show advanced skills in Word and Excel, and a basic knowledge of federal tax returns. The ideal counselor should be a curious individual, who is up for the challenge of adapting to the ever-changing Financial Aid processes and regulations. As the counselor will be asked to consult about confidential situations, a strong sense of discretion and patience is imperative.
