Role Summary

The CMM Lab Supervisor is responsible to ensure that the Customer, People, and Investor goals are balanced and met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide instruction, leadership and guidance to all direct reports (CMM Operators).

• Maintain schedule, supervise and coordinate the activities of all direct reports to ensure dimensional inspections are performed in a correct and timely manner.

• Support current production, new projects, customer complaints and requirements, engineering changes, quality loops, process improvements and other functions to maintain part integrity and quality assurance standards.

• Work with various departments to evaluate and solve quality concerns.

• Assist with / establish quality system processes and certification of all CMM Operators.

• Communicate with customers and suppliers as required.

• Recommend and evaluate metrology related software and equipment improvements to the Quality Manager.

• Plan and review PPAP level 4 submission warrants and other related activities as required for part review by customers.

• Train new and/or experiences associates in accordance with the principles of the Employee Charter and policies and processes set out in the Vehtek Systems Handbook.

• Assist with maintenance of test equipment and storage area in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.

• Maintain MSA Record Review Schedule, complete studies to schedule.

• Perform other duties as required.

Leader Health & Safety Responsibilities

• Ensure Team Members use or wear the protective equipment required by Vehtek Systems.

• Advise Team Members of any potential hazards and/or provide written instructions as to the measures to protect the Team Member

• Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a Team Member and report any known contravention out of their control to their Manager

• Conduct accident / incident investigations and implement corrective actions and Continued Improvements

• Conduct monthly safety inspections and implement corrective actions

• Correct unsafe acts or conditions

• Correct or commends health & safety performance

• Adhere to and comply with and exceed where possible all applicable federal, state, and OSHA environmental, health and safety laws, regulations, external & internal standards and other requirements in all of its operations which relate to its health, safety and environmental aspects

Qualifications

• Effective and efficient with writing, listening and communication skills.

• Attentive to minor details.

• Strong and effective communicator of ideas and concepts.

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry trigonometry.

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematics or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Education, Skills and Experience

• Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from two year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Minimum three years experience in layout function utilizing Direct Computer Controlled (DCC) Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)

• Competent in all Metrology related testing and inspection equipment.

• Knowledgeable in the latest customer quality system requirements.

• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals utilizing any Quality Department computer software.

• Strong problem solving abilities with interpersonal and organizational skills to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

• Experiences in new project launches and requirements for quality inspection and product check fixture design.

• Able and willing to travel out of area to support new model part development as required.

• MSA certificate or scheduled training completed within 6 months of accepting position.

Work Environment

• The work environment is Automotive Production plant environment.

• Overtime as required.
