The Western Kentucky University Department of Music seeks an outstanding candidates to serve as part-time instructor of Clarinet. Part-time instructors are appointed on a semester-by-semester basis with the first appointment for this position to begin August 12, 2024 with the anticipation for additional need for Spring 2025. Core duties will include teaching applied clarinet with the possibility of coaching chamber music. Applied lesson compensation assumes involvement in area meetings, studio classes, end-of-semester area juries, and any other matters pertaining to the woodwind area. Additional teaching opportunities may be available based on candidate qualifications and departmental needs.

Qualified candidates should possess:

  • Professional level performance ability

  • Successful private teaching experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to effectively learn, use, and incorporate instructional technology into teaching

  • Ability to teach students with a wide range of musical backgrounds

    Job Requirements:

  • Master of Music (or related masters degree in music)

  • Successful private clarinet teaching experience
