The Deputy Fire Marshal position resides within the department of Environmental, Health and Safety, and reports to the Fire Marshal. The position is responsible for the installation, inspection, and maintenance of fire and safety systems and equipment on campus. In addition, this position will provide support for tasks within other operational areas of the Environmental Health & Safety department.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Works under the direction of the University Fire Marshal to maintain fire protection systems and performs inspections according to the National Fire Protection Association and other applicable Standards. This includes inspection. maintenance, and servicing of all fire extinguishers and other fire detection and suppression systems across university buildings.
Maintains records and state reports of inspections to ensure code compliance for Western Kentucky University's Campus
Responds to reports of fires or other emergencies on campus and provides support as needed.
Serves as liaison to Bowling Green Fire, KY State Fire Marshals Office, and Insurance Representatives as directed by the University Fire Marshal
Assist with environmental health & safety projects as required
Support university special events and activities as needed
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
At least 5 years of experience in fire protection equipment, or related fields
Possess required qualifications to obtain Kentucky Fire Alarm and/or Fire Suppression Systems License
Valid Kentucky Driver's License & ability to meet requirements for operating University Vehicles
Knowledge of NFPA, Life Safety codes and general safety practices
Sound computer skills (Microsoft Office)
Understand and have general knowledge of the operation
Additional Information:
Hourly Rate: $20.51 - $22.05
