The School of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport (KRS) invites applications for a full time, tenure-eligible, Assistant Professor in the Sport Management program. The School of KRS is housed within the College of Health and Human Services and offers undergraduate programs in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Recreation Administration, and Sport Management, as well as several undergraduate minors and certificates. The successful candidate will have primary responsibilities in teaching, research, and service as well as obligations in support of the mission and vision of the University, School, and Program. The appointment will begin in August 2025. Teaching responsibilities for this position potentially include Introduction to Sport Management, Sport Ethics and Morals, Sport Event Management, Sport Facility Management, Sport Communication, Esports Management, Fiscal Practices in Sport, Legal Issues in Sport, Governance and Public Policy, Sport Leadership and Management, and others. The courses will be delivered on campus and potentially online.

Sport Management is a dynamic academic program, and we are seeking candidates who are excited to grow and shape our program and the School of KRS. Applicants should be able to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching three courses (undergraduate and/or graduate) per semester.

  • Demonstrate ongoing scholarly activities (research publications, presentations, external/internal grant applications, etc.) maintaining awareness of current trends and enhancing the knowledge base in sport and recreation.

  • Participate in service activities (departmental, college, and university) including recruitment and retention efforts of students.

  • Active pursuit of professional development opportunities and participation in relevant professional organizations.

  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students.

    Job Requirements:

  • Terminal degree in relevant discipline (applicants may be ABD at the time of submission, but degree must be awarded by start date).

  • Evidence of potential for effective teaching and scholarly activity

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
