POSITION PROFILE
Our Interns will apply their education to meaningful projects in a team environment alongside a technical mentor. You will be exposed to many levels of management within our company concluding with an end of summer presentation to the executive team. Throughout the summer you will have the opportunity to acquire technical and professional skills, to participate in team building activities, and to enjoy social events in the Rocky Mountain region.
The Development Linux and AIX Support Intern position is within Ricoh Digital Services Business Center (DSBC) in Boulder, Colorado. The Intern will be an integral member of a Development Support team which provides support and solutions, including the creation of automation tools, for multiple software product development teams. The successful candidate should be knowledgeable in Linux, specifically with bash and python scripting, and have a desire to learn system administration and automation programming. They would also need abilities in multitasking, self-direction, and collaboration in a team environment.
Summer Project:
The Support Intern will learn, assist team members, and complete technical tasks to support, automate, and enhance development systems management. The Support Intern will be assigned a project to evaluate, improve, and automate important system or tool functions (i.e., security, server management, AWS management). The project will require the Intern to understand current implementation, research and propose improvements, and complete technical tasks that will enhance our organization’s Development Support and User teams requirements.
The project would benefit the Intern by learning (1) Operating Systems and networking technology, (2) AWS Infrastructure environment, (3) Automation tools, and (4) Learn and collaborate with Development Support technical experts and professionals. The candidate will be provided with an opportunity to learn how the Support team manages, improves, and supports an AWS Cloud Infrastructure and Development servers and networks.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Recommends solutions to problems/issues that impact the project
Determines and examines software alternatives
Contributes to project planning
Constructively challenges and improves processes related to the specific assignment
Documents own work
Present project overview and summary to executive team at end of internship
Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Certifications)
Working towards a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or Information Technology
Student must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university or enrolled to continue their education in an accredited graduate program
Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Students are to successfully complete all required screenings prior to hire
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of Linux and Windows Operating System Installation, Support, and Troubleshooting
Interest in learning System support and configuration
Interest in languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible, JavaScript, PowerShell)
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of Agile software development and support
System skills on Linux and Windows platforms
Strong communication and teaming skills Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
Effectively uses teamwork skills to interact and collaborate on technical issues with mentor / team
Positively contributes to a high morale/high-performance team culture
WORKING CONDITIONS, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
Work assignments are diversified. Interpret, comprehend and apply complex material, data and instruction
prepare, provide and convey diversified information.
Minimal physical effort required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically with less than 10 lbs. (e.g., papers, books, files and small parts, etc.).
Moderate dexterity
regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, eye/hand coordination.
