We are actively seeking an experienced and accomplished Space Mission Ops Engineer to support fast-paced operational projects.
Role/Responsibilities/Qualifications
The candidate will have mission operations experience with spacecraft and instrument flight command and control planning, CONOPS, sequencing, execution, and then processing and analyzing downlinked science and housekeeping data, plus creating tools and processes to support those tasks.
Responsibilities for this role include: Support instrument scientists in planning and executing instrument activities onboard the spacecraft, anomaly resolution, and reviewing in-flight performance Work with a team of instrument sequencers to plan multi-instrument activities Help test and review spacecraft activities involving the scientific instruments Develop software to aid and automate various Science Operations Center activities Effectively communicate with other elements of the Ground System Qualifications Have demonstrated experience leading technical teams to develop/implement hardware/software requirements Have demonstrated ability to quickly ramp up to support the customer's needs, clearly communicate (orally & written) ideas, work autonomously, take the initiative to provide creative alternatives to intractable challenges or systemic problems Have ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal Have demonstrated strong customer and partner relationship building skills BS 2+ years of experience Technical Degree (Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, etc.) Desired Skills Python VML Linux STK Atlassian (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) The typical pay range for this position is USD $70,000 - $80,000 per year, total package including a significant profit-sharing retirement savings plan. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus and a full benefits package.
Deliverable(s)
Deliverables will be in the format of reports, briefings, spreadsheets, or other documents as directed by the customer and/or government approved and/or mandated systems/software and processes governed by guidance/instructions/policy or direction. The nature of this work will, at times, require a quick response to stringent deadlines and always in a high quality, professional manner.
