The Research & Innovation Office (RIO) at CU Boulder seeks a Quality Assurance and Audit Specialist for the Office of Research Integrity (ORI). This role supports ORI by ensuring that it maintains a proactive quality assurance and quality improvement program. This position develops and maintains positive, collaborative relationships within the research community and ORI to facilitate and ensure awareness, understanding and compliance with Federal, State, and local laws. This position will have familiarity and support human research/IRB and animal care and use programs and administrative boards, conflicts of interest and commitment, research integrity, research security and export controls.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Provide rotational assignments across ORI offices to understand and establish regulatory, procedural, and functional baselines.

  • Complete audits on selected research projects by reviewing on-site protocols for compliance to Federal, State, and local regulations; identify process bottlenecks and suggest workflow and data management improvements; prepare QA/QI site visit reports for review, and address any non-compliance issues.

  • Provide temporary support ORI offices during staff transitions, new projects, or periods of increased service demand.

  • In consultation with ORI Directors, develop a plan for the selection of protocols for routine, educational, and "for cause" site visits/audits.

  • Perform internal monitoring/auditing of standard operating procedures, policies, and processes within ORI offices. Conduct regular reviews of minutes and agendas to ensure compliance with federal regulations and university policies.

  • Conduct audits of information in the electronic research administration databases, to ensure compliance with university and departmental policies and federal regulations.

  • Participate in misconduct case investigation and management.

  • Stay updated with the most current Federal regulations and standard processes.

  • This position offers a hybrid work modality with an average of two days per week in the office and occasional evening and weekend work hours.

What We Can Offer

The annual hiring range for this position is $63,000-$75,000. Relocation is available for eligible candidates.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and (3) three years of relevant experience.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
