The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks to hire a full-time Coordinator for research experience programs and training events within our Center for Education, Engagement and Evaluation (CEEE).

The Student Research Experience Coordinator will work closely with CEEE Program Managers on recruiting students for the research experience programs that we run, including summer-long and week-long programs, and virtual programs. The Coordinator will coordinate the recruitment and selection of students and mentors, plan logistics to run the research programs, coordinate with research partners and mentors, co-lead training programs and provide ongoing support for student participants in these programs. The Coordinator will further support online trainings and events, provide overall support across CEEE programs and manage CEEE's undergraduate research student assistants. The duties for this position are varied and require an interest and ability in learning new skills, working within a research and education team and working across disciplines.

This work involves collaboration with project managers at CEEE and research mentors, the CEEE leadership team, the CEEE Director, and other staff. The ideal candidate will have a science background, experience working with students and engagement in mentoring activities. The ability to work collaboratively with scientists, educators, undergraduate and graduate students and other external partners is essential to this role.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Coordinate participant/mentor recruitment and selection for research experience programs (30%)

  • Generate content for recruitment materials (e.g., PowerPoint's, handouts, posters).

  • Staff in-person and virtual recruitment events, such as presentations.

  • Develop content for and update program websites as needed.

  • Manage social media to promote awareness and interest in research experience programs.

  • Support research experience participants/mentors and provide training (25%)

  • Co-facilitate science communication and science research method trainings for participants.

  • Co-facilitate mentorship training.

  • Provide feedback on student posters, talks and research progress in collaboration with research mentors.

  • Support students in problem-solving challenges that may present barriers to a successful research experience (ex. ADA accessibility, navigating campus parking, student stipends, reimbursement, etc.).

  • Coordinate research experience event logistics and planning (20%)

  • Book housing, reserve rooms and plan field trips and events.

  • Support online and hybrid meeting logistics.

  • Work with the CIRES finance team and program managers to ensure participants, event speakers, gift card and stipend recipients are paid timely. Provide administrative support as needed to run the programs smoothly.

  • Provide ongoing support for program alumni (5%)

  • Develop newsletter and social media content for Alumni network.

  • Draft reference letters.

  • Support students at conference presentations (may include travel).

  • Management of CEEE undergraduate student research assistants (20%)

  • Recruit, select, and train undergraduate student research assistants.

  • Coordinate student work schedules.

  • Support undergraduate student research assistants' collaboration with program managers and oversee their work progress and final products.

  • CIRES offers a generous compensation and benefits package.

  • The annual hiring salary for this position ranges from $50,655 - $69,650. Salary is commensurate with education and experience and determined based on our CIRES internal career track classification.

  • A modest amount of relocation funds are available for this position, following CIRES and the University of Colorado's relocation processes and procedures.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in a science field.

  • At least one year of relevant work experience that includes program logistics and coordination.

  • Project coordination experience.
