Bureau of Reclamation Laborer in Boulder City, Nevada

Summary Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Laborer. Make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment. Duty Location: Boulder City, Nevada Telework and remote work not available; housing not provided. This is a temporary position. Responsibilities - Performs labor tasks for journey maintenance workers on interior and exterior of buildings. Included are tasks such as preparing surfaces for painting, preparing floor for carpeting or tile, holding or retrieving required tools for particular jobs, digging holes, securing job specific supplies, etc. - Assists in renovating, fertilizing and landscaping duties in cultivating shrubbery; and independently performs removal of grasses and weeds. Operates basic landscaping equipment such as mowers and spreaders. - As directed, moves and rearranges furniture, files and equipment in the Regional Office and in the Warehouse. Assists in the assembly of complicated furniture. - Incumbent is expected to be familiar with and carry out the safety program as outlined in Bureau guidelines and follow safe work practices as instructed by the Foreman, Supervisor, Safety Manager and other Journey level Maintenance employees. - Drives and operates light duty trucks, mobile equipment, material handling equipment (front end loader), etc. - The use of a respirator is required. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. You must be suitable for federal employment, determined by a background investigation. You must meet any minimum education and/or experience requirements (see Qualifications). You must maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times as the position requires operation of government vehicles on government and public roads. Failure to maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times will result in removal from the position. You will be required to wear the Reclamation issued uniform while working. You will be required to obtain a successful pre-employment physical examination by a licensed physician certifying your ability to perform the duties of this position. A physical exam may not be required if a comparable agency approved examination was performed within the last 12 months. The cost of the exam will be reimbursed by the agency. Qualifications will be determined on the basis of information submitted within your resume and responses to the assessment questions. Education This position does not allow substituting education for experience. Additional Information This is a temporary position, not to exceed 6 months. This appointment may be extended or terminated at any time at management's discretion. This appointment may not exceed 2 years. This appointment does not offer status and will not lead to conversion to a permanent position. You will be required to serve an initial probationary period. Current, permanent Federal employees who are selected from this announcement will be required to serve a probationary period.
