We have an immediate opening for a Social Scientist with expertise in socioeconomic and environmental justice analysis. This position will support large-scale federal and state projects throughout the United States. The role can be based in our Bothell, WA office, or be fully remote or hybrid. Your Role: The successful applicant will have the following responsibilities and qualifications: Support National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and state-level environmental permitting projects, with a focus on socioeconomic and environmental justice impact analysis. Experience with other social science disciplines such as land use, recreation, and scenery are also desired. Ability to support complex projects in a dynamic work environment with strong critical thinking skills and a flexible approach to problem-solving. Excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written), planning, and organizational skills. The role involves frequent interaction with clients, regulatory agencies, other team members, and the public. A team-oriented professional with a strong attention to detail, and a commitment to quality management and client satisfaction. Some travel for site visits, client or regulatory meetings, and participation in public meetings or hearings is expected. Qualifications: Master's degree in economics, land use planning, or a similar discipline. 3 to 8 years of relevant work experience. Experience working with NEPA under various federal agencies, such as the USDA Forest Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Land Management, Department of Energy, Department of Defense, and Bonneville Power Administration. Experience completing socioeconomic studies to support NEPA and state permitting requirements. Familiarity with input-output modeling (e.g., IMPLAN, RIMS II) and experience preparing economic and fiscal impact studies. Familiarity with Benefit-Cost Analysis and principles of economic valuation (e.g., market and non-market valuation techniques). Experience preparing Environmental Justice analyses, including familiarity with federal and state guidance and online tools (e.g., EJSCREEN, CEJST). Experience working with public data sources (e.g., U.S. Census, U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, QCEW data, USDA agricultural statistics). Excellent research, analytical, writing, oral communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and communicate clearly, as well as collaborate with team members across other offices in the United States. Applied experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed. Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
