What You Will Achieve

Pfizer's Digital AIDA Platforms team is seeking an experienced Software Development Lead (SDL) to develop, support, and operate our rapidly expanding Cloud Analytics Services team. The SDL will have familiarity with full stack cloud engineering in addition to product engineering skills. The SDL will lead a team of engineers and software developers to deliver analytics products and services, while introducing and driving new innovative methods and technologies.

The SDL will form close partnerships with key stakeholders and partners across domains including Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, PX, Compliance, Commercial and R&D. The SDL will also work closely with Data Science and Artificial Intelligence CoEs. The person in this role will be embedded in AIDA project teams to provide sound technical guidance and be accountable for deliverables from the AIDA Platforms Engineering team.

The SDL will thrive in a collaborative development team where engineers, data scientists, analysts, business partners and delivery managers shape the future of our products and services. This person will bring functional expertise and be able to fluently converse about various domains. The SDL skills must include developing customer-facing products that operate at scale, must be familiar with major programming / scripting languages. The SDL must also have a background in microservices, agile software development, open source, automated deployment, continuous integration, data engineering, and cloud infrastructure.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Lead a team of highly qualified resources dedicated to development and support of complex advanced engineering products and services for analytics, ML/AI, and data management.

  • Partner with key stakeholders and partners to define scope, requirements, and timelines.

  • Define a development product pipeline, including prioritization, backlog, release management, automated build, validation and deployment.

  • Coordinate closely with the software development team and lead the management of user stories, sprints, epics, and releases to meet deployment milestones. Provide direction, guidance, and oversight to resources working on projects.

  • Maintain, improve, and deploy Microservices, and introduce new innovative technologies.

  • Lead build/buy evaluations to meet needs of cloud applications, products, and platforms

  • Become an expert resource on how various parts of the cloud ecosystem work together. Provide mentoring and coaching to others, both on technology (Cloud, Containers, Kubernetes, etc.) and the delivery methodology (Agile, DevOps, Continuous Integration, etc.)

  • Maintain security best practices in DevOps processes, code, and applications.

  • Lead regular communication and product demos across AIDA, Pfizer Digital, and business partners to promote and align product strategies and capabilities.

  • Establish metrics to measure the health and utilization of supported services. Execute on-going monitoring and process improvements.

  • Provide leadership and oversight to external partner resources. Develop and manage relationships with multiple service providers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with a preference in Technology, Math, or Engineering - or equivalent experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in engineering and software development of technology solutions.

  • 3+ years of experience managing product delivery teams, including experience leading projects and teams of resources in DevOps solution lifecycle.

  • 3+ years of experience in engineering cloud-based solutions using containers and microservices.

  • Strong execution as an engineer, with a pragmatic focus on ROI, to deliver products/services. Ability to adapt to different styles of execution necessary in different stages of product development. This can vary from intentionally scrappy code to iterate quickly (hackathon); or building sustainable systems to support a stable product for years to come.

  • Keen interest in Product thinking including understanding how a product should work as a complex system, and genuine empathy to users' experience. Strong intuition and research skills.

  • Effective communication and ability to work cross-functionally with analysts, data engineers, and solution managers to deliver excellent products. As a representative of AIDA Platform Engineering, this person must be able to communicate clearly with different levels of details and technicalities.

  • Inquisitive with firm grasp of technical constraints, resources, and opportunities, including cost, speed, scalability, security, and best practices to enhance products and the Cloud ecosystem.

  • Ability to estimate and prioritize to assess the engineering effort for various solution options and advocate for value-driven development.

  • Well versed in agile development, scrum, Jira software release management.

  • Expertise in major programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Scala, Python.

  • Expertise in utilizing DevOps tools such as Git, Ansible, Jenkins, Docker, Terraform, SonarQube.

  • Expertise in utilizing multiple compute engines such as Spark, Kafka, MongoDB, DuckDB, Polars.

  • Expertise in utilizing data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Dataiku.

  • Expertise with AWS technologies such as EKS, MSK, AppSync, OpenSearch, EC2, EBS, S3, RDS.

  • Expertise in developing products and services in microservices, modules, APIs, or SaaS.

  • Process documentation and analysis including system specification and requirements for business processes (data, presentation, and logic).

  • Ability to work independently, with limited oversight, and manage projects and engagements.

  • Self-starter, energetic personality with excellent collaboration skills.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.

  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment.

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $117,300.00 to $195,500.00.* In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.   • The annual base salary for this position in Tampa, FL ranges from $105,500.00 to $175,900.00.
