Job Description
AECOM is seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Project Designer with extensive aviation experience to join our practice and help grow our Aviation market sector. We’re looking for a team leader who is client-facing and is experienced in project management with design & technical excellence. The successful candidate is driven by a passion for identifying project opportunities and delivering quality work. This role is focused on growing our successful aviation architecture practice.
Job Summary/Responsibilities
As a Senior Project Designer with recognized technical expertise and experience in demanding, design driven projects, you will lead interdisciplinary teams. Leveraging your industry experience and technical acumen, you will drive a wide range of aviation projects including terminal renovations, hold room design, security checkpoint improvements, and airside facilities, through all phases of design, documentation, and construction.
The successful candidate will be a designer who approaches aviation architecture with a passion, who works well with clients and stakeholders, and who understands the requirements of CBP, TSA, airlines and Terminal Managers.
What you will do:
In partnership with the Project Director and Project Manager, you will lead a team, or multiple teams, in the design and technical documentation and delivery of a wide range of projects
Support the pursuit of excellence in new aviation projects
Develop solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems
Oversee and mentor the development of more junior designers and architects
Support communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture plus a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Five (5) years of direct, Architectural process involvement in aviation projects
Licensed Architect and NCARB Certified
Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (BArch) or Bachelor of Science in Architecture + Master’s degree in Architecture w
Ten (10) years of relevant experience in Architectural design, resolving technical issues, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Professional experience using Revit and BIM as well as experience in Photoshop, Microsoft Office, InDesign, and software such as Rhino, SketchUp, or other visualization tools
Experience with principles of Lean Design and Construction a plus
Solid knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures pertinent to aviation projects
Affinity with developing details and experience in construction documents
Ability to lead integrated design teams of varying sizes to accomplish project delivery from concept through construction document completion and may perform construction administration
Ability to be client facing and lead client discussions, presentations, and charrettes

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $120,000.00 - $170,000.00.
