Core Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate and review real estate agreements for full cycle of real estate lease acquisition and disposition transactions, including design and construction agreements, facilities agreements and assisting with lease administration functions.

  • Work with corporate business partners to identify and refine deal points in the process of drafting, negotiating, and reviewing real estate proposals and letters of intent.

  • Support corporate business partners in structuring leases and fee acquisition deals, advising on matters of real estate law, practice, and interpretation.

  • Participate in preparation and updating of real estate templates and forms.

  • Partner with and manage domestic and international outside counsel with respect to corporate real estate transactions.

The LEGO Retail organization is responsible for overseeing the LEGO Group’s branded stores around the world and to deliver inspirational retail experiences to LEGO fans of all ages within an interactive and vibrant store environment.

As part of the regional legal team reporting to the VP & General Counsel, Americas, this role will focus on supporting and developing the LEGO Retail organization’s strategy regarding store leases in the United States and beyond.

As there will be opportunities to interact and work together with the regional and global legal teams in other areas of the business, this role will be expected to be a strong team player within both teams to provide the best value adding legal support to our relevant stakeholders with strong business partnering skills and a global mindset.

LCR Americas is the regional legal team covering all the America’s region, with lawyers in Boston, MA, Enfield, CT, Mexico City, MX, Monterrey, MX, Richmond, VA as well as Billund, Denmark London, United Kingdom and Shanghai, China in a variety of legal positions.

The focus of LCR Americas is to:

  • Drive and support all legal tasks in our region, like IP, compliance, and corporate matters.

  • Act as main point of contact for relevant legal issues, in accordance with our Mandate and Key Operating Principles.

  • Occasionally participate in tasks and/or provide legal support within other regions.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Law School Degree (J.D., LL.M.)

  • +5 years of commercial leasing and related real estate experience, preferably at both a real estate law firm and as in-house counsel with both domestic and international experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to explain complex information clearly and effectively to different audiences.

  • Negotiate new leases and lease renewals, based on retail development strategy inputs and annual rollout plans.

  • Ability to work proactively, independently, and reliably under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment.

  • Work closely and collaboratively with internal stakeholders: Footprint Strategy, Retail Design, Construction & Project Management, Finance, Legal, Stores, Retail Operations, Retail Marketing, Commercial Planning, Global Business Services.

  • Oversight over external counsel which supports our real estate work.

  • Strong collaboration across time zones and legal teams as well as strong verbal and written skills in English

  • Desire to work as a partner to the business with an aptitude to finding pragmatic solutions to challenges within the privacy field.

  • Ability to understand and learn the core business ambitions and strategies to be able to provide relevant data privacy guidance on a local, regional and global basis.

Additional details on this position

  • This position will initially be based at 501 Boylston St, Back Bay, before moving to a new office location at 1001 Boylston St by mid-2025. Our hiring teams will discuss this with you during the interview stages. (Only if your role is in the Boston Hub)

  • The salary for this position has a range of <$120k- $180k a year> based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints. The LEGO Group carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to prior experience, skills, expertise, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive remuneration details, inclusive of benefits, will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer.
