78443BRJob Posting Title:Peer Leader Advisor - Per DiemDepartment:Pediatrics-Adolescent AutoReqId:78443BRStatus:Part-TimeStandard Hours per Week:1 Job Posting Category:AdministrationJob Posting Description: For the past two decades, the Center for Young Women’s Health (CYWH) at Boston Children’s Hospital has been inviting high school students from the Boston area to join their Youth Advisory Program (YAP) as peer leaders. Through CYWH and YAP, young people in Boston have had the opportunity to receive mentorship and leadership training with the goal of becoming advocates and educators for teenagers, not only locally but also globally.

The Peer Leader Advisor will:

  • Communicate and interact with other peer leaders focused on BCH teen programs.

  • Participate in and may act as a host for health information tables at the Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine outpatient clinic in order to promote health education and awareness on various topics relevant to teens.

  • Role-play as act as teen patients, under the supervision of Adolescent Medicine physicians, to help new pediatricians practice and improve communication with teen population.

  • Share thoughts and opinions with doctors with mock situations to help expand strategies for interviewing teen patients.

  • Provide feedback to researchers and clinicians.

  • Create engaging social media content for the Center for Young Women’s Health to enhance community engagement and health literacy among teens following BCH Computer and Social Media Policies and guidelines.

  • Write content about current events, teen perspectives, and health topics.

  • Under supervision, create written articles for our newsletter and other communication platforms.

  • Review and share feedback on a variety of health educational materials.

    To qualify you should have:

  • Work permit for all individuals under 18 years of age

  • Completion of two years of high school

  • Experience with computers/smart phones apps with social media and knowledge of the computer program Canva strongly preferred.

  • Able to communicate professionally and courteously with patient and/or visitors.

  • Ability to take direction and be able to understand both respond to written and verbal instructions.
