About the Role

Wellington Investment Strategy and Solutions Group (iStrat) manages customized portfolios across multi-asset, fundamental factors and thematic approaches. iStrat brings allocators together to provide clients with a platform that integrates customized investment solutions with research. The Fundamental Factor Platform (FFP) team manages

$3629B across proprietary factor, hedged and extended strategies. The members of the FFP Team manage multi-factor portfolios, conduct market and manager research, and partner with clients on factor-based investment solutions, including strategies to pursue customized risk and alpha objectives. The team also provides bespoke research and advice across various topics such as fundamental factors, manager research, asset allocation, policy and risk management.

‘The Investment Specialist, Fundamental Factor Platform’ – will work as part of a product coverage team led by an Investment Director. This product team works closely with members of the broader investment team, relationship teams, and business colleagues across the firm to support our clients’ investment needs. The product coverage team has three main objectives:

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING

Contributing to client growth and retention by assessing business opportunities and leading business planning, developing new products and investment solutions, creating the communication strategy for the book of business, including materials that differentiate the product relative to competitors and acting as a subject matter expert and portfolio representative for colleagues, clients and consultants.

INVESTMENT INTEGRITY AND RISK MANAGEMENT

Acting as an independent advisor to ensure the integrity of the investment and risk management processes, as well as consistency with client parameters and objectives, conducting regular product risk and performance attributions reviews, and contributing to formal, investment review group processes.

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

Contributing to business management, including managing risk, capacity, pricing, and guidelines, leading the resolution of internal business challenges, and collaborating on product management business to share investment integrity, marketing and product development best practices.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary focus of the role is to provide analytical leverage to the team as well as be a point of contact for a variety of internal constituents regarding inquiries about the investment teams and products under coverage. Over time the individual will participate in meetings with clients, prospects and consultants to communicate our investment philosophy, strategy, positioning, and performance.

Responsibilities of the ‘The Investment Specialist, Fundamental Factor Platform’ include performing analyses related to portfolio positioning, performance and risk, market trends, competitive positioning, and pricing. The individual will also contribute to the development of new investment strategies and client solutions, the creation and maintenance of marketing and client materials, review of RFPs, responses to client questions, evaluate product overlap and capacity trends, and prepare white papers and presentation materials that serve to differentiate our portfolios.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Investment Specialist role is multi-faceted and requires demonstrated interest in investment topics, a passion for learning, as well as strong analytical skills. A positive, collegial attitude and high level of professionalism are essential, as are creativity, initiative, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with tight deadlines.

Key qualifications for this role include:

• Meaningful relevant industry experience and record of achievement. Experience at an asset manager, sell-side firm, or management consultancy is desirable, but not required

• An MBA and/or CFA is desirable, but not required

• Advanced analytical skill including the ability to frame issues, identify important points, and draw conclusions

• Attention to detail combined with a solutions-oriented, strategic mindset

• Solid judgment, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to take a differentiated perspective

• Ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings

• Articulate with an interest in developing presentation skills

• Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with a global team

• Strong technical skills; mastery of MS Excel and familiarity with Factset are a plus but not essential

• Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize time well

• Grace under pressure with an ability to adapt and get things done

• A global perspective and/or language skills are viewed favorably.

• And last, but not of least importance, a sense of humor and curiosity

Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:

USD 65,000 - 150,000

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.

Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
