State of Massachusetts Internal Audit Manager (Administrator VI) in Boston, Massachusetts
Position Summary The Internal Audit Unit contributes to the agency’s mission by providing independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and improve the organization’s operations. Internal Audit helps the organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes. Duties and Responsibilities * The Internal Audit Manager is responsible for managing and directing the audit activities of the MassDOT Internal Audit Unit. Assists in developing the annual audit plan by supporting the annual risk assessment process and suggesting audits for inclusion in the annual audit plan. * Report major issues and significant changes impacting the adequacy of internal controls, * Recommend corrective action to management for audit observations, * Conduct follow up on management responses to audit report observations. * Conduct investigations of significant suspected fraudulent activities and notify management and the audit committee of the results. Preferred Experience and Skills * Experience using Audit Management Software * An advanced degree and/or CPA or other certification (CIA,CFE,CISA) is preferred * Experience managing 5-8 Auditors. *Pre-Hire Process A finalist for this position must be able to pass a comprehensive background check including a criminal record check, Department of Revenue (DOR) check, and employment references. Applicants must have at least (A) five (5) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management of which (B) at least one (1) year must have been in a project management, supervisory or managerial capacity or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required (A) experience. II. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required (A) experience. III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required (A) experience. IV.
