TEKsystems Healthcare Administrative Assistant in Boston, Massachusetts
Help make a difference in patient care by joining the Medical Administrative Assistant team at a well-known hospital! As a Medical Administrative Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare setting by managing various administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations!
Essential Responsibilities:
•Answering and screening phone calls, scheduling appointments, taking messages, directing calls to clinical staff as needed.
•Checking in, registering and collecting copayments for patients.
•Updating patients demographic and insurance information as necessary.
•Coordinates patient care with off-site locations as needed.
•Obtaining insurance referrals and prior authorizations for visits, procedures and surgeries.
•Obtains patient information and medical records from referral sources.
•Manages providers clinical and administrative calendars.
Qualifications:
•1-3 years of medical administration experience
•High School diploma or GED (Associate's degree preferred)
•Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
Additional Skills:
•1-3 years medical administrative experience.
•Experience with computer systems (web-based systems, MS office, etc.) required.
•Experience with Epic is preferred.
•High level of customer service skills and strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
•Able to communicate effectively and professionally.
•Able to work collaboratively with the team of administrative assistants, medical assistant, nurses and providers.
•Strong typing skills 40+wpm.
•Knowledge of medical terminology
•High school diploma/GED required.
Work Environment:
•Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30 with a lunch break around 12.
•The position requires working at two different sites that are about a 5-minute walk from one another, both in the downtown Boston area.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
