State of Massachusetts Fiscal Policy Intern in Boston, Massachusetts
The Executive Office for Administration and Finance (A&F) plans and executes policies to ensure the financial stability, efficiency, and effectiveness of state government. A&F assists the Governor in developing and implementing public policy initiatives to benefit the residents of the Commonwealth, manages the state’s operating and capital budgets, and leads the effort to prepare the Governor’s budget recommendations. Qualifications: * Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in public policy, public administration, political science, finance, economics, or related fields. Desirable skills include Excel or other data analysis programs, previous research experience, and strong writing and communication abilities. *Responsibilities: Responsibilities vary and can be tailored to personal and professional interests. The intern will be assigned to a portfolio and will assist in analyzing state budget proposals, conducting research on fiscal policies, and preparing reports to inform decision-making processes. Tasks include data collection, financial analysis, and participation in meetings. The role also involves supporting short- and long-term projects that make state budgeting more efficient. Key tasks may include: * Conducting research and analysis on fiscal policies and state budgetary issues. * Assisting in the preparation of reports, briefs, and presentations. * Collaborating with team members on projects that improve governmental operations and public services. * Supporting data collection and analysis efforts to inform policy decisions. Tenure: Available two to three days per week for a ten-week period. Tenure and start/end dates may vary based on individual availability and/or interest. The internship will be conducted primarily in a virtual setting with the option of working from the Boston office. Compensation: Fiscal Policy Interns are compensated $25/hour. Alternatively, A&F will support successful applicants that are interested in pursuing institutional funding opportunities or course credit.
