Boston Public Schools Employee Services Coordinator (SY24-25) in Boston, Massachusetts

The Employee Services Coordinator assists Employee Services in the day-to-day operations, organization and control of processes that improve the management and efficiency of its information and services provided to advance the mission of the Boston Public Schools. The ability to interact with the staff and administrators in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role. Expert level of client service, written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making and attention to detail are equally important. Must have the ability to deal with challenging situations, problem solve, prioritize tasks, create and maintain a professional work environment, and be flexible enough to deal with daily challenges of the system. Responsibilities: Work with the Director and Manager of Employee Services in the development and implementation of plans in the Office of Human Capital for efficiency and compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines Responsible for a variety of projects and activities requiring comprehensive knowledge of department's activities and familiarity with laws, procedures, rules and regulations Assist managing the Leave of Absence Process Assist processing worker’s compensation Assist managing the Absent Without Leave Process Assist with adjustments to sick, personal, and vacation time balances Process the FMLA paperwork and ensure compliance with Federal and State Guidelines Coordinate all sick bank activities and information with the Committee (including meetings) and prepares all correspondences Provide reports and information to other departments as requested Audit Department Time Summary Report and Weekly Leaves Report to ensure accuracy of time reporting Provides the highest standards of customer service and serves as the primary liaison for researching and successfully resolving all employee services issues Assist in the management of the Guild operations team members Familiar with duties of other staff members and assists them with projects in peak flow time; when requested Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Required: Bachelor’s Degree and 2-3 years of HR or related experience Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize daily tasks; Demonstrates strong attention to detail and ability to analyze and solve problems quickly and accurately; Ability to work independently with a keen sense of follow-through; Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; Experience working effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Strong commitment to work quality; Ability to coordinate and work effectively with diverse staff; Ability to work in a team oriented environment; Ability to provide accurate and efficient customer service; Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), and internet applications. Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment Qualifications - Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or 5 years of HR or related experience including general knowledge of employment law and regulations; Experience with Peoplesoft or other HRIS; Knowledge of Federal, state and local employment law (e.g., FMLA, FLSA, ADA) Previous experience in union environments; Familiarity with large complex unionized environment; Ability to work with, analyze and communicate analysis of large data sets; Willingness to take on leadership role and "go the extra mile" Terms: Managerial, B31. City of Boston Residency is Required.
