Academically, our students prepare to meet the challenges of environmental health through a solid grounding in epidemiology, exposure science, toxicology, risk assessment and related fields, as well as training in legal and economic topics relevant to environmental and public health. We train the next generation of environmental health professionals, including through engagement in the MPH and MS programs, the PhD in Environmental Health and the crosscampus URBAN PhD program, and professional development opportunities such as the Local Public Health Institute of Massachusetts and the New England Public Health Training Center.

The Department of Environmental Health is looking for a qualified external teaching professional to teach

SPH EH 707 Physiology for Public Health. For students taking courses in toxicology, this course aims to provide the tools required for them to analyze the exposure-disease continuum for any environmental toxicant.

SPH EH 872 Environmental Data and Exposure Modeling. In this course, students develop skills in estimation of exposure using publicly available data and models. Content areas include the assumptions behind and use of equilibrium models, compartmental models and dispersion models, with case studies that address estimation of exposure from sources such as food consumption or industrial emissions.
