Humana Director, Full Stack Engineering in Boston, Massachusetts

The Director, Full Stack Engineering works with partners across the organization to build a digital platform architecture that supports our mission of integrated digital healthcare for the populations we serve, from data architecture to cloud service delivery and the architecture of digital customer experiences. The Director, Full Stack Engineering requires an in-depth understanding of how digital capabilities interrelate across omnichannel customer touchpoints. This role also leads a team of solution and system architects that supports insurance and prescription integrated healthcare.

The Director, Full Stack Engineering is responsible for architecture in all stages of software development, including front-end development, back-end development, database integrations, network and hosting management, user interface, user experience, and back-end server management. The position provides strategic advice and guidance to IT and business leaders, providing thought leadership on emerging technologies and trends that are relevant to the Integrated Healthcare strategy. The position is highly skilled with broad, advanced technical, strategic and change experience. Works with senior executives to develop and drive segment or enterprise-wide functional strategies. Advises one or more areas, programs or functions and provides recommendations to senior executives on matters of significance, and as an advanced subject matter expert competent to work at very high levels in multiple knowledge and functional areas across the enterprise.

Responsibilities include:

  • Broad understanding of Information Technology solutions including technologies, platforms, applications and capabilities

  • Drive a delivery roadmap with both short-term capabilities and long-term solutions in support of the omnichannel marketing and sales.

  • Attract, hire, grow, and mentor individuals on the team and foster an environment of engagement.

  • Actively advocate for new ways of working and delivering on outcomes, with an eye towards quality and agility.

  • Provide consultation to delivery teams in developing level-of-effort estimates.

  • Partner with internal leaders across the Management Team, operations, IT and other areas to drive delivery and create advocacy.

  • Leads a team of architects (10+) designing and configuring the technical systems and application architecture across all platforms, systems, applications and hardware within the Insurance Ecosystem (and beyond).

  • Works with peers from other segments on development and execution of Enterprise IT Standards and frameworks.

  • Sets technology strategy to deliver on corporate objectives and expected outcomes.

  • Creates a team culture of inclusion, support, and curiosity that demonstrates the Humana values.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related IT field

  • 10+ years of progressive information technology experience directly related to architecture/engineering, information security, or other specialized technology field

  • 5+ years of people leadership

  • 2+ years of experience with Cloud Computing & certifications in Cloud Technologies

  • 5+ years of experience with platform implementation and transformation

  • 2+ years of experience in agile development and work practices

  • Experience leading through organizational change

  • Experience with the management of large enterprise implementations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science or related IT field

  • 5+ years with the delivery and operations of applications on public cloud

Work-At-Home Requirements

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:

At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested

Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.

Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$189,400 - $260,500 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
