Director Compliance, Reporting & Governance is responsible for regulatory Compliance risk management and reporting across all One Compliance. They will serve as the principal liaison between Compliance and the regulators / audit. The Director advises Compliance Sr. Leadership on regulatory responses and strategies and is responsible for the monitoring and reporting of all regulatory and audit activities. This may include: obtaining and analyzing examination and audit related documentation and correspondence, monitoring and participating in meetings with regulators / auditors and Santander US., analyzing reports pertaining to examinations / audits, facilitating and reviewing regulatory correspondence associated with examinations, and reporting regulatory status information to US and Head Office management and committees.

Monitors activities to minimize the company's exposure to risk. Will assist in the leadership and support of the Operation / Reporting & Governance team. Responsible for ensuring that all of the company’s activities adhere to the necessary rules and regulations and that the company complies with legal/regulatory statues and jurisdictions.

Responsibility Statements

  • Manages compliance efforts for the company as they relate to complex regulatory and policy requirements, program and project development.

  • Perform review and challenge of team submissions to external and internal stakeholders.

  • Ensures corporate policies are accurate, current, and in compliance with federal and state regulations. Reviews and updates policies as laws change.

  • Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.

  • Partners with business unit managers to respond to reports issued by regulatory agencies or audit.

  • Maintains contact with regulators, government officials, and senior Business Unit managers.

  • Monitors the performance of the Compliance Program and related activities on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness

  • Provides report on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to keep the Board and Senior Management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts.

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent years work experience in Business, Finance, or equivalent degree

  • 10+ years experience Compliance, Legal, Regulatory, or Financial Services

  • Strong PowerPoint experience is a must

  • Demonstrated experience in senior compliance and/or audit position within the securities or banking industry.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated experience facilitating change to achieve measurable results.

  • Detail orientated with the ability to also understand overall strategy.

  • Advanced knowledge of Financial Services rules and regulations

  • Advanced understanding of Enterprise Compliance Risk Management and best practices.

  • Advanced risk and compliance process, control validation and/or assessment skills.

  • Superior leadership, supervisory, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to negotiate and compromise.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with multiple levels of the organizational structure, including senior level management.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills.

  • Ability to adapt and adjust to multiple demands and competing priorities.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to handle conflict resolution with other groups to ensure appropriate accounting guidance is followed.

  • Ability to communicate and influence senior executive leadership.

  • Ability to direct, train and guide peers, subordinates and management.

  • Ability to adjust to new developments/changing circumstances.

  • Commercial awareness.
