Job Description:

The Corporate Counsel is a member of a Legal Services team and is accountable for legal matters or projects within that team. This position also provides legal advice and counsel on special matters assigned by an Associate Chief Legal Officer, Regional General Counsel, or Senior Counsel.

This is an exempt, full-time position located in Broomfield, CO. We prefer a candidate who lives in the Denver Metro area; however, we will consider a fully remote candidate who is willing to travel frequently to Colorado.

With this position, you are eligible to participate in an annual pay-for-performance opportunity (“AP4P”). This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Intermountain Health Board-approved goals.

Under the direction of a senior attorney as the Corporate Counsel, you will:

  • Manage legal matters or projects within a legal team.

  • Work cooperatively and closely with Director- and Manager-level leaders and stakeholders within Intermountain on legal and regulatory issues.

  • Identify, analyze, and resolve complex or novel matters which have no clear legal or business precedent or have different possible interpretations.

  • Read, write, analyze and interpret complex documents, contracts and instruments.

  • Support legal projects, initiatives or government investigations under the direction of a senior attorney.

  • Work directly with an Intermountain business unit and develops an understanding of the business unit’s needs, products and services. Advise business unit on its policies and procedures.

  • Support senior attorneys’ evaluation of the legal impact of major decisions where applicable law, regulations, or facts of the matter are unclear, controversial or conflicting.

  • Manage matters assigned to one or more outside firms.

  • Demonstrate strong teaming, relationship and collaborating skills. Able to identify, manage and mitigate legal, regulatory and other types of risks and have good judgment with respect to Intermountain’s business needs and objectives.

  • Able to analyze complex situations and develop simple, concise, and effective legal solutions.

  • Demonstrate strong writing and communication skills.

  • Able to manage workload with little oversight or direction.

  • Additional responsibilities based on the assigned team and area(s) of focus.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school and have a license to practice law in a state where Intermountain is located or be willing to obtain such licensure within 12 months of hire date. Education is verified.

  • Experience or demonstrated ability in a role requiring excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders in an organization (management, senior attorneys, physicians, compliance, hospital administrators, etc.).

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$76.35 - $117.91
