State of Massachusetts Center of Labor & Employee Relations Co-Op Spring 2025 in Boston, Massachusetts
Position Summary This Co-Op will support the Labor & Employee Relations Specialists in ensuring adherence to applicable labor and employment and other laws, collective bargaining agreements, policies, and procedures. The Co-Op will have the opportunity to learn about labor case management, sit in on a variety of labor hearings and get a better understanding of the practical applications of many labor policies, laws and agreements. Duties and Responsibilities * Assists Labor & Employee Relations Specialists in investigations. * Supports hearings by taking notes in pre-disciplinary, Loudermill and Step II grievance hearings. * Draft notices for lower level disciplinary matters. * Gathers evidence related to investigations, disciplinary proceedings, and grievances. * Assist in the documentation and maintenance of Labor related procedures. Preferred Qualifications * Ability to learn, understand, and apply related labor and employment laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. * Strong writing skills. * Ability to meet established deadlines. * Strong interpersonal skills. * Exceptional organizational skills and demonstrated thoroughness and follow through on all assigned tasks. * Proficiency in all Microsoft Word applications and the ability to learn new technology. * Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
