Boston University ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR FACULTY ACTIONS, College of Fine Arts, Finance & Administration in BOSTON, Massachusetts

The College of Fine Arts seeks an Assistant Director for Faculty Actions. This position manages all full- and part-time faculty, research faculty, and faculty administrative personnel matters for the College of Fine Arts, including searches, (re)appointments, promotions, and leaves.

Each year, the Dean's Office is involved with actions related to over a hundred full-time faculty and hundreds of part-time faculty and a variety of special analyses and proposals. The Assistant Director for Faculty Actions is also responsible for developing and supporting infrastructure and processes to support these actions.

The Assistant Director acts on behalf of the Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration and the three Directors of the Schools in making decisions on regular faculty actions matters and identifying more complex matters requiring further review. The Assistant Director is responsible for developing and overseeing faculty onboarding and professional development activities for faculty, as well as administering training for departmental staff on processes related to faculty actions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and conduct CFA faculty orientations.

  • Perform analysis and make recommendations regarding documentation and workflow for faculty actions.

  • Work with Labor Relations on faculty union issues.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Three to five years of relevant experience.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must have strong computer skills.

  • Must be able to work independently and successfully meet deadlines.
