Job Description

The Cell Process Development team operates as the bridge between early discovery and manufacturing by developing large-scale processes for our cell therapy projects. We work closely with our Drug Discovery Units, early CMC, and manufacturing colleagues to produce manufacturing-ready cell therapy processes.

Job Description:

  • The intern will work closely with the Cell Therapy Process Development Team (PD) team to support process development in Chimeric Antigen Receptor Gamma delta T (CAR γδ-T) Cell Therapy platform and will learn how to optimize a process to be ready for manufacturing.

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of immunology and the CAR γδ-T cell platform

  • Learn cell therapy manufacturing technologies and optimize a new protocol for cell processing on a novel device.

  • Develop lab skills such as aseptic technique, primary cell culture, cell counting, isolation, transduction, expansion, harvesting, and cryopreservation.

  • Develop analytical skills such as flow cytometry, ddPCR, cell-based assays to independently analyze samples

  • Learn to use data analysis software such as Prism, JMP and FlowJo to make graphs, statistical analysis, and presentations for data dissemination

  • Prepare and deliver a final presentation to summarize experiences and project outcomes

Internship Development Opportunities:

  • Technical Skills: Gaining hands-on experience with cell culture techniques, cell processing devices and related lab equipment, and analytical and data analysis techniques.

  • Device Optimization: Understanding the device principles and performance and identifying bottlenecks and proposing modifications for improvement

  • Process Development: Acquiring knowledge in developing and refining process for cell therapy workflows. Learn about process challenges and how to address them in a lab setting

Job Requirements:

  • This position will be Fully Onsite and require 4+ days in the Cambridge office per week.

  • Must be pursuing a undergraduate, graduate, Ph.D or M.D degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Engineering or related field

  • A working knowledge of cell therapy is a plus.

  • Basic understanding of computer skills including MS Office (PowerPoint, Words, Excel)

  • Internet skills including use of e-mails, group messaging and information gathering

  • Highly reliable and a strong team player

  • Flexible with an attention to detail

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Internship Eligibility

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship

  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2025 or later

  • The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (June 2nd- August 22nd) or (June 16th - August 29th)

  • The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames

  • Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates

  • Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$21.00 - $46.00

The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship. The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:
