The Doe Run Company is seeking a General Supervisor to assist the Operation/Plant Manager in meeting cost, production rates, safety, and environmental rules at the metals division. Manage departmental responsibilities related to safety, environment, and operations according to department goals while operating in a safe and environmentally compliant manner. This position is at our Resource Recycling Division in Boss, MO.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage production results in assigned areas. Communicate regularly with Production Manager regarding goal achievement or production issues.
  2. Lead and direct cleanliness of facilities and equipment in assigned area. Submit work orders for equipment maintenance. Ensure all equipment is in good working order.
  3. Monitor and audit the performance of the area processes to meet environmental regulations. Ensure accurate samples are taken and results are within range.
  4. Perform safety audits. Coach supervisors in handling of any safety issues; ensure staff compliance of all safety rules and regulations.
  5. Schedule employees, coordinate shifts, and provide coaching and development. Manage resources, equipment, and staff to meet production goals.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Chemistry, or Metallurgy preferred or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Valid, current driver's license.
  • 7 years of relevant experience.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Heavy industrial manufacturing experience.
  • Management/Supervisory experience.
  • Experience in metals production/recycling industry (preferred).
  • Experience in maintenance planning.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adaptive, I-Series, and PeopleSoft

  • Ability to operate heavy equipment

  • Plant knowledge

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Project management skills including project leadership, task identification, scheduling, and cost/expenditure identification

  • Knowledge of environmental rules and regulations

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Work is frequently performed in a standard office setting. Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions and extremeheat (non-weather), and required to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to, a respirator, hearing protection and eyewear, and to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time, talk, and hear; occasionally required to stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl, and climb or balance. Requires clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
