Part of ThermoFisher's Analytical Instruments Group (AIG), the Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD) strives to exceed customer expectations, by delivering complete electron microscopy, spectroscopy and microanalysis solutions tailored to their needs, combining innovative hardware with advanced software. Our distributed team operates across diverse business domains including semiconductors, life sciences, and material sciences.

We are looking for a dedicated and motived Software Manager to join our Data, AI and Visualization department to lead the team developing CryoFlow, the Data Management platform powering our Life Science Cryo-EM software suites: SmartEPU for Single Particle Analysis and Tomography 5 / Tomo Live for Cryo-Tomography workflows. The team is an integral part of our Life Sciences Agile Release Train, and develops micro-services using Python, C++, Angular for development, and Kubernetes for deployment.

This position is based in Bordeaux, France, but set in an international environment, with team members in Eindhoven (Netherlands), and active collaborations with our colleagues in Brno (Czeck Republic), and Hilsboro (Oregon).

Key responsibilities include :

  • Coordinate all aspects of the software development lifecycle, ensuring high-quality and timely deliverables, relying on Agile (at scale) practices.

  • Drive and Inspire your team by fostering a culture of innovation, inter-disciplinary collaboration, continuous learning, and professional development.

  • Communicate with internal and external partners to ensure alignment between software roadmap, deliverables, and business objectives, in cooperation with the Life Sciences Product Manager.

  • Contribute to the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) by forecasting resources to meet the software product roadmap.

Expected proficiencies and skills:

  • 2+ yr experience in working an in a multidisciplinary and highly technical, preferably scientific domain.

  • Outstanding leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with experience in a hybrid and international setting.

  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working with internationally-distributed Scrum teams, preferably at scale.

  • Ability to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Knowledge of Electron Microscopy or Life Sciences is a plus, although not strictly required.

  • Willingness to travel internationally (up to several times per year)
