Summary Statement
Join the City of Boise Parks and Recreation Department as a Sr Ice Skating Instructor.
Provides ice skating instruction to youth and adult groups. Ensures a safe learning environment for participants. Group Skating Instructor positions are available to qualified persons 18 years of age and older.
This position is designated as At-Will.
Essential Functions
Provides ice skating instructions and advice for groups. Ensures a safe and effective learning environment for all participants.
Answers questions from participants and parents as required in accordance with City of Boise Policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Must be 18 years of age or older;
Must be a U.S. Figure Skating Registered Coach through a recognized figure skating club or as an individual;
Must complete CER Class C within six month of date of hire;
Must have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience within a U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skill Program or ISI weSKATE program.
Knowledge of:
ice skating techniques;
general customer service standards.
Ability to maintain good relations with parents and players;
display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public, and other organizations;
communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance;
complete assignments in a timely fashion;
understand and comply with all rules, policies, and regulations;
maintain prompt and regular attendance; and
perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor, and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation
Licensing And Other Requirements
- U.S. Figure Skating Registered Coach Membership

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds and rarely lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds. Also, the employee is frequently pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate and rarely loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear, and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, and run. Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, and in wet and humid conditions. Work includes protected exposure to bodily fluids.
This position works: evenings and weekends.
19-Hour Temporary
All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.
4-Month Temporary
All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.
8-Month Seasonal
In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.
9-Month Temporary
In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
