Work to improve efficiency of processes and service delivery for the Center for Research and Creative Activity with specific focus on the Project Management Initiative. This position focuses on the people\'s side of adopting changes required to realize efficiencies in the operation. Provides mentoring and coaching to associate and intermediate project coordinators.

Department Overview:

The Center for Research and Creative Activity (CRCA) provides support from idea to impact for faculty as they prepare, conduct, and share their research. We enhance faculty success in research mobilization, cross-campus and community connectivity, and growth as research leaders through streamlined services. Services include a one-stop shop for connecting the structures needed to support ideas to impact by assisting faculty to develop, secure, and improve their research and creative activity goals.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:

60% of the time the Research Project Manager must:

  • Provide management with project status updates, feedback, and appropriate reporting on key responsibilities and objectives.
  • Facilitate meetings and/or projects, determine audience and tactics appropriate for a particular discussion. Adapt facilitation style in order to engage a variety of group settings.
  • Evaluate process improvement information, including policy and procedures to identify inefficiencies and coordinate to determine a future state that satisfies the business requirements.
  • Use appropriate measurement, analysis and evaluation methods to accurately identify and document process improvements.
  • Assess the cultural landscape and adapts change management strategies, as appropriate.

35% of the time the Research Project Manager:

  • Lead training for new project managers.
  • Coordinate the Interdisciplinary Research Accelerator program.
  • Manage project management training development in Canvas.
  • Mentor and coach junior project coordinators.
  • Manage complex research and creative activity projects and portfolios in collaboration with Principal Investigators.
  • Develop and Lead Project Management workshops for campus.

5% of the time the Research Project Manager:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Experience with change management and facilitation.
  • Experience with business process improvement.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent presentation skills with solid communication capabilities and practices, both oral and written.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal capabilities and ability to work cross-functionally with other leaders on sensitive and/or emotional issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Experience with Team Science Methodology.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and make recommendations/decisions based on data.
  • Ability to convey complex or technical information in an easy to understand manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor\'s degree and 2 years experience or equivalent level of professional experience.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary range is \$58,905.60 to \$65 970.67 annually and is commensurate with experience. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):
