Trinity Health Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant- Urgent Care Lead, Education & Retention- Full Time- Boise in Boise, Idaho

GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:

The Lead APP – Assistant of Education and Retention will assist the Urgent Care Manager and Medical Director with provider education, onboarding and recruitment efforts, and assisting with other items as needed. They will also provide primary or acute healthcare services for certain acute or chronic health conditions in specific populations in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

- Master's Degree in Nursing and graduate of either an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with specialization in area of practice required or a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.

- Licensed as one of the following:

An Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) or

Licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Idaho or Oregon as determined by location of assignment.

-Certification through one of the following:

American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or

American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or

Current certification as prescribed by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Inc.

- Current DEA and Idaho Board of Pharmacy Controlled Substance license.

- 2 years of experience preferred in a setting appropriate to the assigned practice (family practice, specialty services, urgent care, occupational medicine, etc.).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

1) Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organizational Mission, Core Values, and Vision in behaviors, practices, policies and decisions.

2) Onboarding new providers. Including, but not limited to, meeting with the new provider, providing clinical orientation, and ongoing clinical check-ins.

3) Collaborate with the Urgent Care Medical Director and Manager on creating a new grad program. Once created, take the lead on implementation and running of this program, with oversight and assistance from the Urgent Care Medical Director and Manager.

4) Assist the Urgent Care Manager and Medical Director with provider education initiatives. Leads and executes the monthly provider education series, organizes provider skills clinics, and assists with the nursing and colleague skills fairs.

5) Assist the Urgent Care Manager and Medical Director with interviews and recruitment, as needed.

6) Provide backup call coverage for the Urgent Care Manager and Medical, as needed.

7) Able and willing to work at all urgent care clinic locations.

8) Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and care.

9) Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions, including use of prescriptive authority and referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.

10) Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health and wellness, treatment options, and community resources.

11) Provides care in the context of promoting age and culture-appropriate informed choices, shared decision making and the right to self-determination.

12) Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

13) Demonstrated team, performance analysis, presentation, interpersonal, facilitation, planning, and communication skills required.
