Federal Aviation Administration Maintenance Mechanic in Boise, Idaho

Summary Incumbent serves as a Maintenance Mechanic for Boise System Support Center (SSC). Responsibilities Serves as a Maintenance Mechanic that accomplishes routine and emergency repair, evaluation, and installation of buildings and structures, facilities, and grounds maintenance. Incumbent has working knowledge in at least one of the areas of carpentry, electrical, mechanical, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), or plumbing trades. Works alone or in a group performing Mechanical, Electrical, Carpentry, Plumbing, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Cable Installation/Replacement, Welding/Metal Fabrication, Painting, Concrete work, etc. Incumbent accomplishes major and minor construction, replacement, or repairs associated with all types of building facilities, and structures, both indoors and outdoors. These activities are inclusive of roof, siding, doors, windows, fences, framing, equipment platforms, and accomplishment of "finish" work. This position requires knowledge and application of materials; and safety and security regulations, practices and procedures. Incumbent works from blueprints, work orders, plans, sketches and other written specifications and/or oral instructions. Incumbent must be able to maintain, repair and use a variety of hand tools, testing equipment and power equipment characteristic of the various trades. May be required to operate diesel/gasoline powered heavy equipment such as trenchers, backhoes, boom trucks, front end loaders, and trailers. Incumbent uses ammeter, voltmeter, test lamp, electric drill press, and various electrician hand tools. Incumbent constructs forms for pouring concrete footings, slabs, steps, walks, and repairing foundations. Uses common hand tools in performing tasks. Cleans brushes, rollers, spray guns, tank and hose with solvent. Maintains other tools and equipment and vehicles in safe and good working condition. Incumbent must be capable of operating or learning computer programs to include but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel. Incumbent must be capable of using dedicated maintenance logging software. Also, incumbent will be working under variable conditions which require using protective clothing and gear, safety devices and safe trade practices. Incumbent must be physically able to wear OSHA standard personal protective equipment (PPE) per 29 CFR. Working Conditions: Incumbent works inside and outside during all kinds of weather conditions including varying temperatures.
