This opportunity will allow an intern to gain an understanding of the health insurance industry and the legislative process, develop on verbal and written communication skills, and participate in nonprofit programs.
This paid internship will be located in downtown Boise working between 25 - 30 hours per week.
That we are looking for in an intern:
- Junior or Senior standing enrolled in a 4-year university or college
- Microsoft Office experience - proficient in Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Good verbal and written skills
- Ability to work independently with moderate supervision
What you will learn on this internship:
- Attend and Monitor Key Committees
- House Health & Welfare Committee
- House Business Committee
- Senate Health & Welfare Committee
- Senate Commerce Committee
Research Key Issues
- Conduct research as legislative proposals are introduced
- Briefly document the research to assist with BCI\'s policy position
- Assist in developing messaging documents to be used both internally and externally
Steps for Schools Support
- Assist with the Steps for Schools Program
- Technical support
- Interact closely with Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation staff
- Answer questions from legislators
Communications
- Work with Public Affairs Manager on external communications activities including daily news clips and editing of news release.
