As a IT Software Support Engineer, you will work within a team environment that supports, develops, and maintains software solutions for the Technology Development (TD) and future ID1 300mm facilities in Boise Idaho. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail and the ability to learn on the fly. This position supports critical manufacturing software, databases, and Data Analysis systems that evolve with our technology as a company. Software engineers in this team collaborate extensively with other teams and business units to maintain high quality software support, delivery, and uptime to the facility.

Key Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

  • Improve efficiencies and inspiring change by following Worldwide best known methods (BKMs)

  • Reducing IT impact and support levels to the lowest level

  • Providing a high quality customer experience to the business

  • Addressing critical IT related down situations by repairing or implementing workarounds.

  • Providing timely monitoring and reaction to line & IT system performance

  • Demonstrating sound Software Engineering skills by creating permanent software solutions for critical business needs

  • Designing and building support, maintenance, and metric gathering utilities

  • Collecting, analyzing and presenting data to all levels of management. This would include any systems efficiency enhancements as well as root cause analysis from IT related issues.

  • Defining and suggesting solutions that improve production, engineering, and process related efficiencies and issues.

  • Learning new tools to maintain, troubleshoot, and support existing software

  • Crafting, maintaining, and managing training documentation for 1st & 2nd level IT support groups.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science/Engineering, 4 years of related coursework, or 4 years of experience in IT Support required.

For this position you will be required to have

  • Focus on continuous improvement, results and driving work to achieve goals and objectives

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, cross-cultural and presentation)

  • Proven analytical skills through course work or work experience

  • Troubleshooting and software debugging skills

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • The ability to solve problems across group boundaries and world-wide locales and work in a collaborative environment.

Working knowledge in several if not all of the following domains:

  • C#, Perl, bash, Visual Basic (.NET), SQL, XML, Linux, Unix, Windows, Python, and HTML.

  • Other duties include participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation; establishing and maintaining effective relationships with customers, developers, and infrastructure groups across all Micron sites; travel to remote sites may also be required.

Related Experience:

  • Experience working in a professional team and/or customer environment and/or a background in manufacturing tracking systems or processes is a plus.
