Central District Health (CDH) (https://cdh.idaho.gov/) is currently recruiting for a motivated individual to join our dedicated group of public health professionals as an Epidemiologist with our Communicable Disease Control (https://cdh.idaho.gov/health/communicable-diseases/) team. This position will work in our Boise office.

Typical Duties:

Disease Investigation:

  • Investigate reportable diseases and outbreaks in both office and field settings;

  • Assist with case management duties including contract tracing and connection to testing and treatment resources;

  • Perform or coordinate biological sample collection (e.g., phlebotomy, stool sample collection).

    Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze epidemiological data;

  • Write outbreak reports;

  • Share lessons learned and best practices with colleagues;

  • Prepares detailed reports of investigations, surveys, and interviews;

  • Develops conclusions and recommendations regarding disease mitigation and control.

    Education/Outreach:

  • Assist in the development of written or verbal communication to medical providers and the general community;

  • Present disease trend and/or prevention information to local healthcare workers, community organizations, and policy-makers;

  • Provide training and technical assistance relative to assigned program areas to internal staff, other health care providers, agencies, educational institutions, and the public;

  • Maintain relationships with broader health community;

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Considerable knowledge of contemporary principles and practices of epidemiology;

  • Experience applying principles and practices of epidemiology.

    The Most Desirable Candidates Will:

  • Be licensed, or have eligibility for licensure, to practice registered nursing in Idaho (e.g., RN, BSN) and have at least 1 year of experience applying epidemiological principles, OR

  • Possess a master's degree in public health, science (with an emphasis in epidemiology), health sciences or related degree and have at least 1 year of related experience;

  • Possess and maintain a valid Idaho driver's license.
