As a Process Engineer you will be primarily responsible for starting up, developing and optimizing processes to improve product quality and reliability, working on process yield improvement, cost reduction, efficiency improvement and, risk management as well as resolving manufacturing line problems. You will also be required to identify, diagnose and resolve assembly process related problems by applying failure analysis, FMEA, 8D or SPC/FDC methodology. Additional responsibilities include coordinating and carrying out process, equipment and, material evaluation/optimization to implement changes at process step, leading and participating in yield improvement and cost reduction activities, handling new process baseline qualifications and managing, auditing and liaising with material suppliers to achieve quality, cost and risk management objectives.

As a metals deposition process development engineer, you will be part of an industry-leading DRAM development team. The position promises ample opportunities for innovation, teamwork, and pushing the boundaries of semiconductor technology for the most sophisticated DRAM devices. You will work directly with Process Integration engineers and other process areas such as Dry Etch, Wet Etch, CVD, Diffusion, Photolithography, & CMP. You will evaluate new deposition hardware platforms, process chemistries, and carry out fundamental characterization, process development, and generate intellectual property relevant to the company. You will drive technology roadmaps, partner with vendors to develop processes that meet device requirements for future technology nodes, and transfer processes to pilot production and manufacturing facilities.

Qualifications

A successful candidate for this position will have strong abilities in the following areas:

  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve semiconductor fabrication process related problems.

  • Coordinate and implement process, equipment, and material evaluation or optimization initiatives and implement changes for overall performance/cost benefits.

  • Hands-on experience on thin film deposition equipment in a lab or clean-room environment.

  • Understanding solid-state physics including materials, surfaces, and interfaces, understanding fundamental challenges in materials exploration for device scaling.

  • Understanding chemical kinetics and their direct application to CVD, ALD, and PVD deposition processes in various deposition reactors.

  • Working understanding of different types of thin-film analysis techniques such as SIMS, XPS, EDS, AFM, SEM, TEM, and XRR.

  • Support and drive statistical process control (SPC) and fault detection (FC) efforts.

  • Support site to site portability/technology transfer.

  • Planning and, carrying out effective, well-designed experiments and writing clear, concise reports detailing the results.

  • Collaborating with a wide variety of people in different areas of process R&D, process integration, and pilot production to optimally accomplish tasks in a timely manner.

  • Working independently and driving projects with limited supervisory input

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Requirements:

B.S. in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar field and 5+ years of relevant metal process development experience, or M.S. degree and 3+ years of relevant experience, or Ph.D. in relevant field.
