GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:
The Hyperbaric Technologist and Safety Officer is responsible for the care of the general hyperbaric population undergoing hyperbaric treatment. Special populations include vascular, wound care, delayed radiation tissue injury, carbon monoxide poisoning, thermal burns, necrotizing infections, osteomyelitis, decompression injury, and acute gas embolism.
Schedule: required 2 8 hour shifts a month, based on need
(hours of operation is M-F 8-4)
*would cover both Boise and Nampa Clinic locations
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must be a Certified Hyperbaric technologist by the National Board of Diving & Hyperbaric Medical Technology.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric as applicable).
Participates in the development and clinical flow of all Hyperbaric services provided by the department.
Able to provide care for patients in the hyperbaric chamber.
Functions under the supervision of the department leadership (and medical director and Administration) in administering hyperbaric treatments.
Routine and complex decisions are made either independently or in conjunction with other health care team members.
Provides patient education. .
Keeps complete and accurate patient records as they pertain to assessment, treatments, and documentation of care.
Conducts chamber safety inspections.
Responsible for the safe and effective operation of hyperbaric chamber(s)
Ensures department compliance of safety policies and procedures.
Evaluates and maintains hyperbaric equipment and supplies to ensure they meet all safety requirements.
Maintains a safe environment in the hyperbaric facility for patients and staff
Comprehensive assessment skills, problem solving abilities and proven communication skills required.
Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and business functions of the organization, i.e., HIPAA.
On an as needed basis, will perform the duties as assigned to an Ambulatory Care Aide which include:
Patient rooming, obtains vital signs, room set up for visit.
Performs POCT testing, screenings, and identified procedures after competency validation.
Maintains a clean, safe, well-stocked clinical area, including patient examination rooms and equipment.
Maintains a complete, accurate, and legible patient medical record.
Performs clerical functions including appointment scheduling prior authorizations, referrals, laboratory/diagnostic, and referral tracking, processing insurance forms, etc.
Maintains a working knowledge of clinic office protocol/procedure.
Assists in emergency situations under the direction of the provider or licensed nurse
Observes aseptic techniques, Universal Precautions, and other regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, CLIA, CMS, Joint Commission).
