Purpose of Job:

Contributes to the overall success of International Banking Engineering ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The position is responsible for leading or being part of a team that ensures that all necessary activities are carried out so that the assigned projects are completed accurately, within the established time frames, meeting the needs of users and in accordance with the regional strategy, while at the same time providing a consistent and valuable experience for users. Contributes to the overall success of the assigned Projects, ensuring that the specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are carried out or fulfilled in support of the team's business strategies and goals. Ensures that all activities are carried out in accordance with the prevailing internal standards, policies, and procedures. The position is responsible for evaluating, coordinating, planning and executing the projects carried out by the organization. It is also responsible for providing the required support during the project life cycle and post-implementation support, in order to support the requirements requested by the Bank for the fulfillment of business, operational, and regulatory/AML objectives.

Major Accountabilities:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Provide support for the evaluation, coordination, and planning of moderate to high complexity projects to define an implementation date and establish measures to be taken, recommend, or implement for problem resolution.

  • Support for the solution must include costs and be formally documented in a General Design Document and must be internally represented in a project management tool (e.g., Microsoft Project).

  • Execute the required tasks to support the Bank's Project Planning and Implementation Life Cycle including:

  • Provide advice and support for the development of detailed requirements, cost calculations, and schedules.

  • Review design documentation as required.

  • Prepare products or functions so that they are operationally ready and provide ongoing support to ensure delivery of negotiated products or functions in accordance with standards and methodologies of Scotiabank.

  • Document project status and inform stakeholders of the results of project planning and execution, as well as identify relevant risk points and their respective mitigation measures.

  • Guide participants and relationships to ensure project teams are cohesive and working towards common goals and priorities.

  • Manage meetings and work sessions as necessary to ensure project objectives are met, i.e., project planning.

  • Comply with all assigned administrative functions, e.g., preparation of status reports, deadline reports, development plans, setting objectives, performance evaluations, etc.

  • Maintain an integrated risk management process for relationships with goods and services providers and carry out the necessary due diligence for providers with which you have or may have a relationship as stipulated in company policies of Scotiabank

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education/Work Experience/Designations

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields

  • Agile & project Management certifications

  • Experience working in Agile projects implementations and leading the Agile practice in teams.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in similar positions

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of all aspects of system software and multiple platforms. Bank's or financial applications and software system from a technical point of view to evaluate the impact of development and changes on the data processing environment in general (e.g., applications, operations, networks, infrastructure-AS400, WAS, AIX, Linux, IHS, Wintel and Cloud).

  • In-depth knowledge of Bank processes, banking technology, banking controls, technical knowledge, and project management.

  • Practical knowledge in Agile/DEVOPS tools, (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket), Microsoft Office, Service Now, Power BI and Project Management tools.

  • Technical hands-on working experience with Public and Private Cloud based environments.

  • Analytical, conceptual, and good communication skills at a level that allows the holder to contribute to project plans and be innovative in designing solutions that can be implemented in the shortest time and thus meet the user's and client needs

  • Must have excellent problem solving and analytical skills and is capable of multi-tasking and managing concurrent tasks and initiatives.

  • Must be a self-starter, fast learner with positive attitude and team player.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a larger team

  • Proven ability to deliver quality results in a busy and dynamic business focused environment

  • Able to train, mentor and share knowledge in both individual and group settings

  • Excellent ability to prioritize tasks and manage time

Attributes

  • Intermediate English: oral and written (B2 level)

Dimensions:

  • The position is developed in an environment of certain autonomy where, if necessary, has the power to seek the best options and negotiate with the involved areas following the instructions of his immediate supervision and the policies of the Bank.

  • The position must relate in the planning and management of projects with operational personnel, Managers, and Directors of different Technology departments.

  • The person in the position is evaluated together in accordance with the achievement of results within the established deadlines and the approved budget. Critical situations or those that exceed their authority must be escalated to their immediate supervision on how to proceed. Among the challenges of the position, he/she is responsible for:

  • Medium and high-risk projects at any time.

  • Emit his/her criterion in each of the assigned projects and tasks.

  • Support of new development projects, provide support and service to all units involved in new Global

  • The person must have excellent analytical, problem solving skills

  • The person must be creative and flexible in identifying technical solutions to solve business problems in a rapidly changing, demanding and complex business environment

  • The person must have good interpersonal and communication skills in order to deliver proposals, provide support and interact with team members and other departments

  • A broad understanding and knowledge of computer services, planning and control tools and organized structure

  • It is also expected that the incumbent will play a leadership role within the team, creating a positive work environment through coaching and encouragement in addition to providing their technical experience and advice with the rest of the team

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a hybrid environment (Remote/Office); non-standard hours are a common occurrence.

  • Availability to work outside of working hours

  • Focused concentration is necessary to review and understand detailed technical or business requirements.

  • Volumes of work will vary with the project / release schedule and flexibility to meet the workload fluctuation is required.
