Position Summary:

The candidate will work under the supervision of Drs. Dimitris Pados and Georgios Sklivanitis. A postdoctoral researcher will primarily work on a transdisciplinary, multi-institutional project to support a recently funded National Science Foundation (NSF) Engineering Research Center (ERC) for Smart Streetscapes (CS3). Details on CS3 research projects can be found at https://cs3-erc.org.

Ideal candidates for this position should have a strong research background in one or multiple areas, such as the Internet of Things, software-defined radio testbeds, NextG networks, open radio access networks, multi-modal (RF, optical, video) and multi-function sensing, edge computing, data analytics, machine learning, AI and digital twins. Postdoctoral researchers are expected to lead and support excellent smart city research both independently and as part of the FAU's CS3 team. It is ideal to engage and support the ERC center's workforce development. This is an on-site position; remote is not an option. The duties and responsibilities of this position include:

• Responsible for the technical aspects of research programs within the CS3 for wireless and data analytics research.

• Provide technical support throughout the lifecycle of the sponsored research project/program: Including definition of the reference architecture and system interfaces, technical liaison.

• Program management support to projects to meet cost, scope and schedule metrics set forth by the research program.

• Write grant proposals and presentations.

• Technical report editing.

• Communication and outreach to the broader scientific community and general public.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Peer-reviewed research and publication record in wireless, AI, or sensing

• Knowledge of wireless networks and familiarity with wireless testbed research

• Ability to serve as supervisor and instruct undergraduate, graduate students and junior researchers

• Good communication skills and experience giving professional presentations at academic conferences and to potential sponsors

• Interest in innovation and workforce development programs in wireless systems

• Effective management of software-intensive projects including design, implementation and lifecycle management
