Summary:

The Flight Medic must arrive on time and in full uniform ready to work. Participate in shift change and Flight Brief. Perform a thorough check of the Aircraft and Base at the beginning of each shift including cleaning, disinfecting, and stocking of needed supplies. Check and sign-off medications. Assist Pilot in the completion of preflight inspection, participate in shift safety briefing, participate in pre liftoff and landing safety check list. Maintains communication with Penncomm as to the status of the aircraft, patient report, and other needed information. Maintains communications with Local Communications Centers as needed. Maintains communications with on site landing team to assure a safe and functional landing zone. Assists pilot in-flight by utilizing the aircraft navigation systems including but not limited to- ADF, RNAV, Loran- C, GPS. And all other aircraft equipment. Provide Safety classes as requested. Provides quick and efficiently inflight medical care per PennSTAR standing orders and documents that care prior to leaving shift.

Qualification:

The qualified candidate must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must minimally possess a Drivers License, PA DOH EMT-Paramedic Certification, current ACLS , PALS, BCLS, & PHTLS. National Registry – Paramedic required, FP-C certification required within 1 year for new hires. Candidates must have at least 5 years full-time employment experience as a Paramedic with a busy 911 service and pass criminal background check. Candidates must live within 40 mile radius of the assigned PennSTAR Base(s) within 1 year of hire date. Candidates will maintain all requirements for full medical command yearly. Additional clinical certifications may be required. Candidate must maintain a body weight at or below 230 lbs in flight suit, helmet, and approved leather boots .
