Overview
Under guidance of the Regional Engineering Manager, oversees regional engineering design activities associated with the electric distribution system. Leads a regional team of employees, providing oversight, coaching, and safety and technical guidance to assigned staff in support of producing high quality, timely and cost-effective solutions. Executes engineering to support multimillion-dollar regional capital and expense spend plan.
Responsibilities
• Supervise and lead regionally based team of electric distribution design personnel.
• Lead and develop direct reports to build self-motivated and effective work teams.
• Execute work in accordance with work management schedules and priorities.
• Administer, evaluate, and authorize design work in concurrence with engineering instructions, construction specifications, NESC, and OSHA standards.
• Responsible for engineering productivity and quality in the provision of electric service to residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal customers in a timely and cost-effective manner in accordance with PUC tariffs and PPL Standard Practice Instructions.
• Manage engineering productivity and quality to provide timely and cost-effective designs for reliability and maintenance related projects.
• Work with other sections/departments on cross-functional technical and business teams, working groups or improvement committees to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and the company.
• Evaluate and authorize design work completed by engineering contractors.
• Resolve engineering and scheduling related issues by interfacing with customers, contractors, customer's engineers, and foreign utilities.
• Support capital and O&M budgets in accordance with work plan objectives.
• Provide timely responses to PUC complaints related to Distribution Operations.
• Manage and lead storm restoration efforts in Regional Emergency Command Center. Responsible for coordinating training and storm drills.
• Review, revise and communicate department procedures in support of improvement initiatives.
• Assist in the development of changes in methods or processes and make recommendations for implementation.
• Assist in the development of department goals and metrics.
• Lead investigations related to power system incidents and non-employee contacts. Serve as an expert witness during legal actions.
• If applicable, in-person supervision of employees to ensure compliance with FLSA wage and hour issues as well as to monitor compliance with safety rules.
• May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.
• The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change. In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in engineering or engineering technology from an ABET accredited college or university.
2+ years of experience in distribution/engineering/technical related functions, preferably in the design and/or construction of Distribution Facilities and associated components.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and establish strong working relationship.
Excellent oral and technical writing skills.
Valid Driver's License.
