AON Technology Delivery Leader in Bloomington, Minnesota

What the day will look like.

At Aon, the Delivery Lead role leads one or more teams of developers, testers, designers, and other disciplines in building global software solutions. The position is accountable for ensuring delivery execution aligns to organizational goals and objectives. To that end, the delivery leader must also frequently collaborate with business partners, architects, and product owners. Report status and be a point of contact for executive level partners. While the exact roles and responsibilities can vary depending on the circumstances, in essence the role has responsibility for bringing multiple disciplines together to work in unison towards common objectives using common processes.

This typically entails the following responsibilities.

  • Communicates, monitors, and ensures delivery team remains aligned with the business and technical objectives.

  • Ensures we have the right mix of talent, team size, and roles defined to make delivery commitments. Ensures we are following the best methodology that is applicable for the effort.

  • Ensures team stays aligned to architecture design and quality attributes. Collaborates with architects to improve designs and address potential challenges.

  • Enhance team velocity while staying within budget.

  • Collaborates with product owners on product roadmaps, backlog refinement, technical debt management, and opportunities to use innovative technology.

  • Collaborates with scrum master or project manager in providing necessary methodology training and coaching.

  • Actively identifies and removes blockers before they become problematic.

  • Can tackle a variety of technical work including creating / updating technical documentation, design / code reviews, build and deploy tools to enhance productivity, and assist on coding tasks.

  • Champion a collaborative and high-performance team

  • Acts as a proxy in case a particular role cannot be present for a meeting / event.

  • Provide thought leadership to architectural, leadership, and governance councils. Fill in whatever other gaps exist that the team needs.

    Skills and experience that will lead to success.

  • Overall 15+years of Information Technology experience

  • 10+ years in a hand-on developer or architect role on n-tier applications.

  • 3+ years of Azure cloud development.

  • Proven ability of at least three years as technical team leader.

  • Deep understanding of agile principles and scrum methodology including the ability to act as a scrum coach.

  • Solid understanding of common Azure PaaS services, the roles they perform and the benefits they afford. (AKS, App Service Plan, Storage Accounts, Key Vault, Managed Identities, Data Factory, Event Hub, Event Grid, Cosmos DB

  • Experience writing restful API’s using .NET 5/6/7 using domain driven design.

  • Experience with HTML/JavaScript

  • Basic understanding of UX principles

  • Familiarity with foundational security principles; SAML/Oauth, encryption, secrets / token management.

    Optional Qualifications

  • Experience working in large scale global corporate environments.

  • Experience delivering services for a global audience deployed to multiple hosting regions globally.

  • Experience delivering high traffic / high throughput consuming facing web applications.

  • Experience with UX driven product development.

  • Proficient in Azure DevOps.

  • Experience in varied technology roles. (business analysts, project management, quality assurance, DevOps, support, etc.)

    Pay Transparency Laws:

    The target salary range for this position is $150,000- $175,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

    This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans. The amount of the incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
