The Sr. Electrical Engineer will be responsible for leading, coordinating, designing and controlling the technical activities related to new or revised battery management systems and Lithium-Ion battery packs. Ensures that designs meet all product performance, quality, safety and regulatory standards. Will provide work direction to other team members.

What Will You Do?  

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

  • Creates engineering designs to satisfy the product objectives related to Lithium-Ion battery packs and Lithium-Ion battery packs. Create marketable ideas for new and revised products.

  • Performs engineering analysis to predict the behavior of a proposed design and resolves design problems.

  • Actively participates and coordinates in the development and understanding of customer requirements through direct contact with cross functional business partners and functional units.

  • Provides work direction and monitor the work of engineers, designers, draftspersons, and experimental shop mechanics assigned to the areas of design responsibility. Receives high level work direction from supervisor and project managers.

  • Provides technical support to Sourcing with evaluating and selecting suppliers to ensure suitable quality components are procured.

  • Supports activity for engineering change management using established Engineering and Development Procedures.

  • Effectively communicates with stakeholders on development progress and engineering analysis of product design.

  • Supports company quality policy by working within the quality system. Participates in quality initiatives and training as needed.

  • Stay up to date on the state-of-the-art on battery and electronics technology and best practices through professional organizations, independent research and seminars.

  • Performs other duties and assignments as requested.

    What Do You Need?  

    To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an ABET accredited Electrical engineering program

  • E3-minimum 5-8 years’ experience in a product design or related engineering role. An advanced degree may substitute for some years of experience.

  • E4-minimum of 9+ years experience in a product design or related engineering role. An advanced degree may substitute for some years of experience.

  • Demonstrated capabilities acting as technical leader in the area of embedded electronics design.

  • Experience designing, implementing, and testing analog and digital circuits with schematic and PCB layout software.

  • Experience designing products using Lithium-Ion batteries is preferred, but not required.

  • Experience in developing application and embedded firmware for 32-bit microcontrollers in C/C++ is a plus

  • Knowledge of common communications busses such as SPI, I2C, and CAN is preferred.

  • Experience utilizing Agile and Waterfall design methodologies a plus.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Results-driven and action-oriented; positive and energetic.

  • Good problem-analysis and resolution skills.

  • Strong process orientation and drive for continuous improvement

  • Desire to work in a fast paced, challenging, and evolving environment with a team-first mindset

  • Able to multitask and manage multiple simultaneous projects of various complexities and size

  • Has demonstrated a high level of competency through successful completion of projects.

Scope:

With a focus on Lithium-Ion battery packs and battery management systems (BMS), works on moderately complex projects.

Other Job-Related Components:

  • Working conditions: Typical office working conditions. Also works in lab and field testing (may be outside) environment.

  • Travel expectation: Limited travel consisting of short visits to test sites, conferences or manufacturing sites.

    Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
