As a simulation engineer, you will perform finite element analysis (FEA) simulations in the area of structural durability of off-highway equipment under the guidance of senior engineers.

What Will You Do?  

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for: 

  • Partner with product development teams to develop simulation plans to improve or optimize a new or existing design based on performance or durability specifications.

  • Use ANSYS Workbench tools (primarily Space Claim and Mechanical) to execute simulations (including pre-processing, solving, and post-processing) to predict the behavior of the proposed designs.

  • Communicate simulation results through generation of high-quality reports containing scientific visualization, numerical data, and conclusions.

  • Work with design teams, test engineers and test technicians to develop an understanding of the workings of any given product or mechanical system to develop or refine simulation load cases or input conditions.

  • Partner with test engineers and technicians to develop structural tests and interpret results.

  • Partner with product development teams to quickly respond to unexpected design issues identified during the development cycle, or in-production product failures, and use simulation and expertise to resolve those issues.

    What Do You Need?  

    To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an ABET accredited Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil engineering program, OR

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural engineering from a university with an ABET accredited undergraduate engineering program.

  • Knowledge of finite element theory, fatigue theory, and ability to evaluate numerical data to predict failure.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills needed to interact with all levels of personnel.

  • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills and ability to collaborate with various engineers on many projects simultaneously.

  • Highly competent organization, presentation and writing skills.

  • Engineer I: 0-2 years applicable FEA experience using commercial software such as ANSYS, Nastran, Abaqus.

  • Engineer II: 3-4 years applicable FEA experience using commercial software such as ANSYS, Nastran, Abaqus.

    Other Job-Related Components:

  • Most work done in an office environment. May occasionally work in test lab or at field test site.

  • Minimal travel required (0 to 10%)

    Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
