SEAGATE TECHNOLOGY (NRM) Senior Wafer Test/Metrology Engineer in Bloomington, Minnesota
About our group: The Wafer Test and Metrology engineering team provides support to Seagate's wafer operations to manufacture recording heads. The team provides test and metrology solutions to support both production and development needs. We work in a collaborative environment interacting with a range of team members from manufacturing specialists to technicians, engineers and management. You will have the opportunity to share your knowledge and learn from others, both on our team and withing the wider wafer engineering community. About the role - you will: Implement various wafer test techniques for wafer process control. This may include both electrical and optical tests. Create recipes as required across selected wafer test platforms. Conduct gage studies and implement control methodologies. Develop, test and optimize wafer test techniques for use on both research and development (R&D) and production wafers. Coordinate with relevant software and equipment vendors to plan appropriate applications support as well as delivery of scheduled or needed upgrades. Work with equipment vendors and other team members to evaluate new equipment/software and document the results for use in purchasing decisions. Perform detailed analytics on the resulting data using a variety of statistical analysis tools and prepare/present technical reports to provide wafer-level feedback for process control and design optimization. Work on-site at our Bloomington, MN facility. About you: Demonstrated experience with a variety of wafer test techniques. Knowledge of semiconductor or thin film head wafer manufacturing. Excellent spoken and written communication skills; strong initiative and motivation. You must be able to work and communicate effectively across shifts with a diverse group of engineers and technicians. Your experience includes: Statistical data analysis skills; proficiency in metrology gauge capability analysis, calibration and statistical process control (SPC) methods considered a plus. Experience in a wafer manufacturing / cleanroom environment. Interest in developing skills in machine learning, generative AI, and data science. Familiarity with a variety of metrology techniques, preferably in a wafer fab environment. Experience with scripting languages. Location: Our Normandale campus spans two suburbs, Edina and Bloomington, and serves as the Recording Head development and manufacturing arm of Seagate.
