Job Title: Pharmacy TechnicianJob Description

Reviews requests for medical policy or prescription drugs that require a coverage determination based on pre-determined clinical criteria. Provides guidance to providers (doctors and nurses) as well as pharmacies with regard to pharmacy benefits, pharmacy claims, formulary, and pharmacy policy and procedures. Will not be talking to members.

Responsibilities

• Review requests for medical policy or prescription drugs based on pre-determined clinical criteria.

• Provide guidance to providers and pharmacies regarding pharmacy benefits, claims, formulary, and policies.

• Handle pharmacy benefits and claims efficiently.

• Ensure familiarity with drugs and drug categories.

• Work with difficult customers in-person and via telephone.

Essential Skills

• 3 years recent Pharmacy Technician experience.

• Familiarity with drugs and drug categories.

• Experience with pharmacy benefits and claims.

• Ability to work with difficult customers.

• 6 months experience with computer systems in pharmacy services.

• Registration as a pharmacy technician in Minnesota (active and in good standing).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program.

• Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - active and in good standing.

Work Environment

Fully remote working with dual monitors. Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM to 6 PM. Once permanent, will work Saturday rotation (8 AM to 4 PM) once every 3-10 weeks, with a coordinated day off that week (usually Monday). Once permanent, will need to go on-site once per month to send letters. Systems used include MedHOK (web-based system), MedImpact (PBM), various client-specific programs, and EPIC (view-only). Peak business is from November through March, with January and February being the busiest months, and limited time off during this period. Training will be a combination of in-person and remote, with 4-5 months of training including shadowing and performing cases.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.66 - $25.66
