Job Description

The Otis Service Center (OSC) Electronics Shop is looking for a Team Leader. This position will support and work closely with the department manager. Specifically, you will ensure that the department process and workflow are adhered to by department personnel while performing technician responsibilities.

Essential Responsibilities

The Electronic Shop Team Lead handles all tasks associated with testing, troubleshooting, and repairing elevator motor drives and printed circuit boards per Electrical Engineering instructions. This position will perform evaluations, create repair reports and detailed notes for each drive and update internal tracking database with status of repair on schedule that meet customers’ expectations. This position requires great attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn on the job in a fast-paced, high-quality production environment. Salary and benefits commensurate with work experience. The individual in this position will perform the following functions:

  • Support and oversee the daily Electronic Shop operations

  • Prioritize workflow and assign daily task in accordance with the E-Shop management.

  • Must comply with all EH&S policies and procedures and the Otis Absolutes.

  • Able to accommodate changes in production and work schedules in order to meet deadlines.

  • Perform team leader duties while also performing the hands-on primary job role

  • Proactively identify and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives

  • Determine repair requirements to bring material back to like new condition.

  • Replace defective components and those required as preventative maintenance.

  • Disassembly, repair, and re-assembly of various components.

  • Completion of repair and test reports for all repaired products.

  • Follow documented test procedures and schematics to repair or replace components.

  • Follows safety rules, practices, and other safety requirements for all projects.

  • All personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as required.

  • Ability to participate in annual inventory.

Physical Demand:

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. If an item weighs more than 50 lbs., the employee must ask for assistance in lifting and/or use the appropriate crane, forklift, or other lifting devices.

  • Walking, balancing, climbing, standing, twisting/turning, bending/stooping, crawling, crouching, kneeling/squatting, sitting, reaching above shoulder height, reaching forward, lifting (maximum 50 pounds), carrying, pushing/pulling, handling, feeling, digital dexterity, wrist flexion/extension, power grip, working speed, talking, hearing, seeing (with color vision) depth perception.

  • Must be able to wear/use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.

Education

The successful candidate must have an associate degree in electronic technology or equivalent, or 5-10 years of electronic technician work experience and/or specialized training. BS in Electronics Engineering Technology preferred.

Experience/Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have knowledge of basic electrical and electronic theory including AC/DC theory, motor controls, solid state, and semi-conductor circuit theory. In addition, the successful candidate:

  • Must have strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

  • Will have a strong background in electronics repair, testing and troubleshooting.

  • Should have excellent technical and problem-solving skills, as well as be capable of working independently and collaboratively with others.

  • Must be very familiar with the working modes of power components such as power transistors, diodes, IGBTs and ICs.

  • Must be adept at debugging circuits containing operational amplifiers, comparators, PWM, and regulators.

  • Will be organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to operate basic hand, power tools and electronic test equipment.

  • Must be able to lift infrequently (50lbs or less)

  • Must be able to stand for extended period daily.

  • Must be able to wear/use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
