This Opportunity:
We are currently looking to fill a Part Time Position as PSW/Support Service Attendant/ role in in our Northeast region - Blind River. Less than 30 hours per week.
Starting wage is $22.52 per hour. This position already includes the $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients (starting $19.52).
Valid drivers licence, proof of insurance, and reliable vehicle required.
Roles and responsibilities:
Assists consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures:
Personal care
Lifts and Transfers
Rising/retiring
Bowel and bladder procedures
Meal preparation and feeding
Range of motion exercises
Other light housekeeping duties
Performs duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.
March of Dimes Canada provides 24-hour attendant care to its clients. Support Services Attendants work a variety of shifts (i.e., weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays) that vary between locations.
Qualifications and experience:
Grade 12 Diploma is a requirement and/or PSW certificate
Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or the ability to obtain within 3 months of employment
Experience working with people with physical disabilities, experience/knowledge/understanding of Independent Living, or Client based care
Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care duties
Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, including de-escalation techniques
Physical Demands Self Analysis Required upon hire
Professionalism in dealing with team members and other service providers
Ability to speak, read, and write English
Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours
Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation REQUIRED
