Description

We are seeking a Sr. Tax Accountant for a large growing retail client located in BIRMINGHAM, Alabama. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity, providing a critical function in managing and overseeing company's tax operations. As a Sr. Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for various tasks including processing and managing corporate income tax, sales tax, and property tax.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the organization's sales & use tax and property taxes.

• Handle the preparation of corporate income tax returns ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, and other tax requirements.

• Develop tax strategies to optimize the efficiency of tax liabilities.

• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

• Work closely with auditing team to carry out tax audit tasks.

• Regularly review systems and processes, making necessary changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the accuracy of financial data and reports.

• Stay updated with changes in tax regulations and laws that can affect the company's operations.

• Provide assistance in the development of the company's budget and financial plans.

• Handle ad-hoc assignments related to the finance department.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a Tax Accountant

• Expertise in dealing with Sales Tax procedures and documentation

• Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local tax regulations

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Proficient in using tax-related software and applications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Relevant professional certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is desirable
